Growing Up on the Spectrum: Zach Zaborny and stepdad, Mike McMahon

Born at 26 weeks and weighing only 1lbs 12oz, Zach Zaborny spent the first six months of his life in the hospital. After overcoming many early obstacles, he grew up to have a normal and healthy childhood. At 8 years of age he was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. Zach earned his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from Kansas State University in 2012. In 2013, Zach started The ZEZ Connection,http://thezezconnection.com/,  a blog that details his life and experiences living with Asperger’s. Zach is an international speaker and autism self-advocate. He speaks at conferences and events around the world, where he shares his story, providing hope through humor and education through acceptance. Zach Zaborny is an Unlicensed Funeral Assistant for Korsmo Funeral Service, Quality Assurance Software Tester for Specialisterne Midwest, and Campus Pastor for Faith United Methodist Church, among other positions. Zach serves on the board of directors for the Red River Valley Asperger- Autism Network.
